Neogen® Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Chloramphenicol

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Chloramphenicol is used for the selective isolation of fungi in a laboratory setting. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Chloramphenicol is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is a modification of Dextrose Agar described by Sabouraud. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar is used for cultivating pathogenic and commensal fungi and yeasts. The high dextrose concentration and acidic pH of the formula permits selectivity of fungi. This medium is beneficial in sporulation studies and pigment production. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar is used for determining the microbial content of cosmetics and in the mycological evaluation of food.

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Chloramphenicol is a modification of Sabouraud Dextrose Agar, with the addition of Chloramphenicol to increase selectivity against commensal microorganisms.
