ThyroKare (levothyroxine sodium tablets), USP is approved by the FDA (NADA#141-539) for replacement therapy for diminished thyroid function in dogs. Effectiveness

Success was defined as the normalization of each dog’s serum tT4 within a therapeutic reference range of 1.0 - 5.4 μg/dL.

At day 84, 87 dogs (81.3%) of the 107 dogs in the effectiveness population were considered a treatment success.

ThyroKare™ remained effective at Day 168 with 81.3% (87/107) of evaluable cases considered a treatment success. Clinical signs of hypothyroidism (lethargy, weight gain, bradycardia, cold intolerance, and dermatologic conditions such as alopecia, seborrhea, hyperpigmentation, myxedema, hyperkeratosis, scaling, and pyoderma) and hypercholesterolemia improved during the study.
