Fraser Broth Base Supplement is used in the preparation of Fraser Broth Base and Demi-Fraser Broth Base for selective enrichment and detection of Listeria spp. in a laboratory setting. Fraser Broth Base Supplement is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.

Preparation
  1. Follow the base media instructions for the preparation of the culture medium.
  2. One 5 mL vial of 7984 Fraser Broth Base Supplement will supplement 500 mL of Fraser Broth Base or 500 mL of Demi-Fraser Broth Base.

Fraser Broth Base:

  1. Dissolve 55 g of the medium in one liter of purified water.
  2. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
  4. Aseptically add 10 mL (2 x 5 mL vials) of Fraser Broth Base Supplement (7984).
  5. Mix thoroughly and aseptically dispense into sterile test tubes in desired volume.

Demi-Fraser Broth Base:

  1. Dissolve 55 g of the medium in one liter of purified water.
  2. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
  4. Aseptically add 10 mL (2 x 5 mL vials) of Fraser Broth Base Supplement (7984).
  5. Mix thoroughly and aseptically dispense into sterile test tubes in desired volume.
