Corn Crop Highlight

• 91% of corn is harvested in the U.S.
• Corn development is highly variable
• Droughts continue in the northeast and corn belt

What does this mean?

91% of corn is harvested, 29 points ahead of last year and 11 points ahead of the five-year average. Corn development is highly variable within some fields. Dry weather in the middle of the country aided harvesting while precipitation in the western U.S. added to topsoil moisture — helping the firefighting efforts. However, drought continues in the west, parts of the corn belt, and the northeast.

Mycotoxin Reports

We have a deoxynivalenol (DON) report in spring wheat in N.D., along with reports in wheat.

• Spring Wheat: ND 1–3 ppm
• Wheat: NC 1–3 ppm
• Wheat: KS 5–10 ppm
• Wheat: VA 3–5 ppm
• Wheat: MO 5–10 ppm

We have a report of DON in new crop corn in PA:

• PA 3–5ppm

We have reports of aflatoxin in new crop corn in the following states:

• IA 50–100 ppb
• KS 100–300 ppb
• AL 50–100 ppb
• MS 100–300 ppb
• NC 50–100 ppb

We have a new report of fumonisin in corn:

• TX 5–10 ppm
• KS > 10 ppm
• AL 50–100 ppb
• OK > 10 ppm
• MO 5–10 ppm
