91% of corn is harvested, 29 points ahead of last year and 11 points ahead of the five-year average. Corn development is highly variable within some fields. Dry weather in the middle of the country aided harvesting while precipitation in the western U.S. added to topsoil moisture — helping the firefighting efforts. However, drought continues in the west, parts of the corn belt, and the northeast.
