[Two men seated with headphones on.]

Dan Dwyer: Why is digital data management a game changer for food safety organizations?

SUPERIMPOSE: David Hatch, VP Digital Solutions Marketing, Neogen

David: Well, that that's a it's a very broad and open-ended question, Dan, and one that I've been thinking about for several years as we have been engaging with companies across a lot of segments within the food and beverage industry.

[A graphic titled "Measuring the Impact" is displayed. An image of a gray line tipping down at the left and up at the right. The left-end has a red arrow pointing down labelled "Risks". The right-end has a green arrow pointing up labelled "Opportunities".]

David: First of all, I'm going to say it has to do with the risks and the opportunities to address those risks.

[The word "Recalls" appears with three ovals next to it. Each oval has text. Oval 1 reads "Warning/Fines". Oval 2 reads "Shutdowns". Oval 3 reads "Increased Scrutiny".]

David: We hear a lot about recall.

[The word "Regulatory" appears with three ovals next to it. Each oval has text. Oval 1 reads "Public Health". Oval 2 reads "Shareholder Value". Oval 3 reads "Customer Loyalty".]

David: Regulatory risk is important. There are inspections, you know, that can have adverse results that come with you know fines. You could have a line or a facility shut down. You could then find yourself under a pattern of increased scrutiny which of course takes time away from your operations so that's a consideration.

[The word "Operations" appears with three ovals next to it. Each oval has text. Oval 1 reads "Gain Back Up-time". Oval 2 reads "Optimize Productivity". Oval 3 reads "Optimize Testing Spend & Labor".]

David: And let's talk about operations!

[The screen displayed changes to a dashboard with line charts and a table displaying a set of trending results.]

David: If you are able to see a trend or a pattern emerging that results in an unplanned or unbudgeted teardown that's going to stop a line or it's going to delay the start of a production line, wouldn't you want to get ahead of that? Wouldn't you want to see that information and take action before that that happens?

[The screen displays a flowchart of gray rectangles with arrows pointing from one to the next. The flowchart is labelled "Before... Manual process consists of 36 stes – inherently creates risk."]

David: If you think about all of the requirements in regulatory documentation, such as FISMA, or look at a lot of environmental monitoring program policies of companies, when you break it down into the steps that are necessary to complete an environmental monitoring process you see there are actually 36 manual steps.

[The screen displays a different, more simplified flowchart of green rectangles with arrows pointing from one to the next. The flowchart is labelled "After... With Neogen Analytics: Automation of food safety workflow significantly reduces risk/human error."]

David: One of the things that digital technology can do in a way that we help companies justify moving to automation is the idea that can reduce those number of steps from 36 down to just six.

[The screen displays a dashboard with a row of three rectangles with red or green headers.]

David: Most of the steps can be automated meaning that things like the scheduling of your testing and the actual execution of the testing can be pre-planned, can be defined in a technology platform, and can then be run automatically as time goes on.

[The screen displays a floorplan with green, blue, and red dots. A red dot is clicked and a table of results and corrective actions appears.]

David: When you get a diagnostic result back from the lab that is non-conformant, you can automatically launch your corrective actions and let the let the system guide you through your policies.

[The screen displays a different, more simplified flowchart of green rectangles with arrows pointing from one to the next. The flowchart is labelled "After... With Neogen Analytics: Automation of food safety workflow significantly reduces risk/human error."]

David: This not only reduces the amount of time and effort required, it also makes sure that you are in fact consistently following your own policies and following the Regulatory Compliance.
