Warm, dry conditions prevalent in much of the U.S.
Sparse showers on the West & Gulf coasts.
Corn harvest nears completion.
The USDA’s November 21 bulletin reports sparse precipitation occurred on the edges of the country, with West coast states experiencing scattered showers and receiving totals of around 2 inches. Showers in the Gulf coast states and parts of the Ohio Valley averaged from 2 to 4 inches while parts of Florida saw up to 10 inches of rainfall from a non-tropical storm system. The interior of the nation experienced another week of mild, dry weather that helped to bring the harvest season near completion. From the intermountain West to the Great Plains and Great Lakes, temperatures were reported as much as 10 degrees above average.
Winter wheat planting and development continues.
95% of winter wheat acres are planted, one point below the five-year average.
87% of winter wheat acres have emerged, two points above the five-year average.
Corn harvest nears completion.
93% of corn is harvested, 2 points above the five-year average.
