Winter Wheat Highlight

  • 90% complete
  • The wheat harvest continues as crop maturity advances
  • DON reported in wheat: KS, MO, NC, & VA

What does this mean?

The winter wheat harvest nears completion (90%), just three points ahead of last year, but three points behind the five-year average. There have been confirmed reports of DON in wheat: Kansas (5-10 ppm), Missouri (5-10 ppm), North Carolina (1-3 ppm), and Virginia (3-5 ppm).

>1 ppm too high for food
>5 ppm too high for swine feed
