Summer cookout season is in full swing.

When your four-legged family members are involved there's a few things you should keep in mind before giving your dogs hot  dogs or other classic cookout cuisines.

Hot dogs?

Yes. Your dog can have hot dogs just make sure you cut it up so it's not a choking hazard.

Chicken wings?

Nope. The bones are a choking hazard.

Burgers?

Yes. The burger patty is fine as long as it's not too heavily spiced. Onion, garlic, and most peppers are problematic for dogs.

Guacamole?

Nope. Several ingredients are toxic in guacamole to dogs.

Fruits?

Yes. Most fruits are fine for dogs, but do watch out for any fruit that has pits or grapes.

Gungabrauten?

You should have said no since I just made that up and when in doubt don't give it to your dog. This is just broccoli though so it's fine.

Always remember that one strawberry to a small dog can be the equivalent of you eating ten.

Keep treat calories to a small part of your pet's diet and enjoy the summer cookout season.
