Annie is a Field Application Scientist for Neogen® Petrifilm® Plates. With over 10 years of industry experience as a technical services representative, Annie uses her expertise in microbiology, quality assurance, and food safety to assist food processors with test method implementation and advanced food safety applications. She also works with industry regulators to help ensure best practices in method implementation. Annie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Minnesota State University.
Sophia Johler – Chair of Food Microbiology, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München
Dr. Sophia Johler is a leading expert in food microbiology, specializing in foodborne bacterial toxins and advanced risk management approaches. As leader of the MicRISK2030 consortium, she integrates AI-based concepts from stochastic finance to transform microbial risk assessment and promote sustainable food systems.
A prolific scholar with 82 peer-reviewed publications and over 2,360 citations, Dr. Johler’s contributions have earned her prestigious awards, including the Konrad-Bögel Award and Inventor of the Year. Her work has advanced food safety diagnostics and set new standards in microbial research.
Beyond research, Dr. Johler mentors postdoctoral fellows and students while leading international initiatives like COST Action RIBMINS. Her dedication to teaching, innovation, and leadership continues to shape the future of global food safety.
