Richard T. Crowder joins Neogen’s Board of Directors

LANSING, Mich., Nov. 23, 2009 — Neogen Corporation (Nasdaq: NEOG) announced today that Richard T. Crowder, Ph.D., was elected to Neogen’s Board of Directors at the company’s recent annual meeting of shareholders.

Crowder has more than 40 years of experience in the food, agriculture, and trade industries and currently serves as an adjunct professor of agricultural economics at Virginia Tech University. From January 2006 until May 2007, he served as United States chief agriculture negotiator with the rank of ambassador.

“Since our founding in 1982, a strength of Neogen has been the quality of individuals on our Board of Directors, and the addition of Dr. Crowder certainly continues that tradition,” said James Herbert, Neogen’s chief executive officer and chairman. “Our Board provides valuable oversight, advice and support to senior management, not just during scheduled meetings, but throughout the year as we respond to the rapidly changing business environment.”

Prior to his appointment as ambassador, Crowder served as chief executive officer of the American Seed Trade Association from 2002 to 2006, for five years as senior vice president of international affairs for DEKALB Genetics Corp. (later acquired by Monsanto), and for two years as executive vice president of Armour-Swift-Eckrich. He was appointed by President George H. W. Bush to serve from 1989 until 1992 as Undersecretary of the United States Department of Agriculture responsible for international affairs and commodity programs.

Crowder held various senior management positions with The Pillsbury Company for 14 years, including internal board level responsibilities with Burger King Corporation and Steak and Ale Corporation. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Mendel Biotechnology, Inc., and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Farm Foundation. He previously served on the Board of Directors of Soo Line Corporation and Penford Corporation. Crowder holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Virginia Tech University and a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University.

Crowder replaced Gordon E. Guyer, Ph.D., who elected not to pursue an additional term after his continuous service to Neogen on the Board since 1990. Guyer will continue to serve the company as director emeritus.
