LEXINGTON, Ky., May 4, 2009 — Neogen Corporation’s DC&R® Disinfectant has been approved for use in California by that state’s Department of Pesticide Regulation. DC&R’s unique formulation is a combination of three active ingredients that kill on contact, and keep killing for up to seven days.
DC&R Disinfectant, which had been previously approved by the U.S. EPA, is a broad-spectrum premise disinfectant for the poultry, animal health, and agricultural industries, which has been repeatedly shown to effectively control dangerous bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The disinfectant has been proven to be effective against such viruses and bacteria as swine influenza, avian influenza, pseudorabies, canine parvovirus, Mycoplasma pneumonia, Salmonella choleraesuis and Clostridium perfringens.
DC&R is used to spray livestock houses once animals have been removed under normal conditions, as well as houses that have been depopulated as a result of an outbreak. The disinfectant is also effective for biosecurity footbaths placed at livestock house entrances to prevent contamination that might be on workers’ boots, and for truck washes as feed trucks and other vehicles move from farm to farm.
Because of its cost-effectiveness, DC&R is commonly used in the control of the broad spectrum of organisms that exist in poultry and swine production, as well as other animal facilities. It can be used in the following areas: poultry and turkey farms, hatcheries, swine operations, dairy farms, cattle farms, veal farms, equine farms, emu and ostrich farms, zoos, veterinary clinics, kennels, pet shops, Federally inspected meat and poultry establishments, except where meat and food products are handled, animal life sciences laboratories and in farm foot baths. DC&R Disinfectant can be used to disinfect pens, hutches, feeders, waterers, cages and livestock and poultry hauling vehicles and equipment.
DC&R Disinfectant is one of several disinfectants now marketed by Neogen for the control of bacteria, molds, and viruses that cause disease and production problems in poultry and animal agriculture.
