LEXINGTON, Ky., Aug. 7, 2020 — Neogen announced today that its AquaPrime® Activator has been reviewed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI), and the institute determined that Neogen’s chlorine dioxide activator and animal drinking water acidifier is in compliance with the USDA National Organic Program, with usage restrictions.

The OMRI’s new certification of AquaPrime Activator, combined with the earlier OMRI certification of AquaPrime NeoKlor water disinfectant, allows Neogen to offer a complete organic certified water treatment program. AquaPrime NeoKlor is a 7.5% sodium chlorite solution that is EPA-approved for usage in drinking water for livestock and potable water disinfection.

“Neogen has once again shown our commitment to our customers through the continued innovation of our products,” said Neogen’s Jesse McCoy, a Certified Water Specialist. “OMRI certification of AquaPrime Activator allows our water treatment customers to continue providing high quality water to their animals and expand market access for their products.”

AquaPrime Activator is a special blend of mineral and organic acids specifically formulated to activate AquaPrime NeoKlor for the disinfection of animal drinking water for livestock production operations. AquaPrime Activator improves the taste and odor of drinking water, in addition to improving disinfection properties of AquaPrime NeoKlor. It is supplied as a concentrated liquid that is green colored for easy indication of the presence in injection systems.

AquaPrime NeoKlor and Activator are parts of Neogen’s Water Treatment Program. AquaPrime NeoKlor can be used in combination with a chlorine dioxide generator to disinfect the drinking water of poultry, swine, cattle and other livestock operations. The product can also be used to disinfect food plant process, poultry process and industrial cooling water, and for clean-in-place water disinfection and wastewater systems.

AquaPrime Activator and AquaPrime Trigger are used with AquaPrime NeoKlor to generate chlorine dioxide to disinfect animal drinking water. AquaPrime Trigger is a strong acid blend that can also be used alone to adjust the pH of animal drinking water, in addition to activating NeoKlor. AquaPrime Peraside™ 15 is a 15% peroxyacetic acid-based product that is EPA-approved to clean and treat poultry and livestock drinking water lines.
