LANSING, Mich., Dec. 22, 2016 — Neogen Corporation (NASDAQ: NEOG) has developed the quickest and easiest test for ochratoxin in a format that uses a water-based extraction solvent.
Neogen’s new Reveal® Q+ MAX for Ochratoxin can deliver precise results ranging from 2 to 100 parts per billion (ppb) of ochratoxin in only five minutes. The test is the first available in a lateral flow format that uses a water-based solvent to extract ochratoxin, and is also the first lateral flow to test for the mycotoxin in green coffee.
“Neogen’s innovative water-based technology yields more accurate and reproducible results than competitive tests on the market. Coupled with our lateral flow test readers, the Reveal Q+ MAX system objectively reads, analyzes and stores test results,” said Neogen’s Mary Gadola. “The ability to test the same sample for multiple mycotoxins represents a potentially significant cost and time saving for grain testers. Until now, testers had no choice but to prepare separate samples for each mycotoxin to be tested for — by far the largest time-consuming element of the entire testing process.”
The new test for ochratoxin is the second available in Neogen’s Reveal Q+ MAX line, joining the line’s existing test for aflatoxin. Neogen’s Reveal Q+ MAX for Aflatoxin can deliver precise results ranging from 2 to 300 ppb of aflatoxin after only six minutes. The test detects the four principle types of aflatoxin, B1, B2, G1 and G2, with superior cross-reactivity when compared to other available aflatoxin tests.
Neogen offers the most comprehensive range of food safety diagnostic test products for foodborne bacteria, mycotoxins, drugs, allergens, and other concerns. Its full line of mycotoxin test kits detect aflatoxin, aflatoxin M1, deoxynivalenol (DON), fumonisin, ochratoxin, T-2/HT-2, and zearalenone.
Neogen Corporation develops and markets products dedicated to food and animal safety. The company’s Food Safety Division markets dehydrated culture media and diagnostic test kits to detect foodborne bacteria, natural toxins, food allergens, drug residues, plant diseases and sanitation concerns. Neogen’s Animal Safety Division is a leader in the development of animal genomics along with the manufacturing and distribution of a variety of animal healthcare products, including diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, veterinary instruments, wound care and disinfectants.
