LEXINGTON, Ky., April 16, 2020 — Neogen announced today that it has launched AquaPrime® Peraside™ 15, a 15% peroxyacetic acid-based product that is EPA-approved to clean and treat poultry and livestock drinking water lines.

In addition to controlling bacteria, fungi, slime and odor in water lines, AquaPrime Peraside 15 was developed to sanitize and disinfect equipment, and treat fruit and vegetable process water systems. It can also be used to control bacteria and algae in wastewater treatment systems.

“Managing water quality and quantity is one of the most overlooked best management practices in livestock production. It plays an important role in digestion and nutrient absorption and is also essential for many physiochemical reactions needed for optimal growth and production,” said Neogen’s Katlyn Connelly. “While peroxyacetic acid is not a novel chemistry to the animal production industry, having a product with a 15% concentration, with the capability to run through existing on-farm medicator equipment, is a game changer. Most other peroxyacetic acid-based products have a 5% concentration that requires additional injection equipment in order to use properly.”

AquaPrime Peraside 15 is part of Neogen’s Water Treatment Program. Other products in the AquaPrime water treatment portfolio include AquaPrime NeoKlor, a 7.5% sodium chlorite that can be used in combination with either AquaPrime Activator or AquaPrime Trigger to generate chlorine dioxide to disinfect animal drinking water. AquaPrime Trigger is a strong acid blend that can be used alone to adjust the pH of animal drinking water, in addition to activating AquaPrime NeoKlor.
