LEXINGTON, Ky., Sept. 14, 2017 — Neogen has introduced a new tracking powder rodenticide that quickly and efficiently kills mice that are reluctant to eat rodent baits, and also provides visual evidence of rodent activity.
Neogen’s new Prozap® Zinc Phosphide Tracking Powder kills rodents by providing a lethal dose of zinc phosphide as rodents groom themselves to clean their paws and fur of the powder. The new restricted use product is intended for indoor use only, and is available in 25-pound pails.
“Tracking powder is especially effective in applications where rodents have abundant food sources and are reluctant to accept food-based rodenticide baits,” said Neogen’s Stacy Dixon. “With this product, the rodents really don’t eat the product, they are just doing what rodents do. Some rodents groom themselves more frequently than a cat.”
Prozap Tracking Powder is a formulation of 10% zinc phosphide and corn starch, which is an excellent carrier that effectively adheres the product to the rodent. Acute toxicants like zinc phosphide require only one grooming to kill, and quickly reduce rodent populations even where a tolerance to anticoagulant-based rodenticides exists.
“Our new Prozap Tracking Powder is an excellent supplemental tool to use in a swine or poultry facility’s rodent control plan, for example, or in any program that requires continuous adapting to variations in rodent activity,” said Dixon. “The powder provides a secondary benefit of tracking changes in that activity in a facility.”
Prozap Tracking Powder adds to the list of rodenticides Neogen offers to animal protein producers. Other rodenticides recently introduced by Neogen include CyKill™ Rodenticide Bait, an exceptional rodenticide bait that combines superior palatability with the proven active ingredient bromethalin; and DeciMax® Soft Bait, an effective rodenticide bait that combines palatability with the flexibility to use in extreme weather conditions.
The new tracking powder is designed to supplement Neogen’s rotational rodenticide baiting program. For more information on the program, or any of its products, contact Neogen or visit www.Neogen.com.
