LANSING, Mich., Feb. 20, 2014 — Neogen has expanded its line of ampouled media, increasing the number of organisms that can be detected with its Neogen Filter Test System.
Neogen’s new ampouled media offerings are:
- Pseudomonas Broth Ampoule — for detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other pseudomonads in water samples
- Mannitol Salt Broth Ampoule — for detection of Staphylococcus aureus in liquid samples
- M-FC Broth with Rosolic Acid — for detection of fecal coliforms in water or wastewater samples
Each new ampoule contains 2 mL of rehydrated Acumedia® culture media specifically developed to detect target bacteria, and is designed for use with the Neogen Filter Test System. The disposable system utilizes cellulose membrane filter technology and ampouled liquid media to detect and quantify target organisms. The system is available with either white or black filters.
“Using media ampoules with the filter system represents the quickest and easiest method of testing the large volume samples required in the beverage industry,” said Neogen’s Ed Bradley. “After the sample has been pulled through a filter, a tester simply adds the premeasured media, incubates the filter, and then analyzes the filter for colony growth.”
Neogen’s ampouled media offerings also include: m-Endo Broth, m-Green Yeast and Fungi Broth, MI Broth, m-TGE Broth, Orange Serum Broth, and PRY Broth.
Neogen Corporation (Nasdaq: NEOG) develops and markets products dedicated to food and animal safety. The company’s Food Safety Division markets diagnostic test kits to detect foodborne bacteria, natural toxins, genetic modifications, food allergens, drug residues, plant diseases, and sanitation concerns, and dehydrated culture media.
