LANSING, Mich., Dec. 8, 2016 — Neogen Corporation announced today that Dr. Stewart Bauck has been named its vice president of agrigenomics. In his new role, Bauck will continue to be responsible for the company’s agrigenomic activities, including management responsibility for Neogen’s GeneSeek subsidiary.
Bauck joined Neogen in 2012 as the company’s director of beef cattle genomics, and became GeneSeek’s general manager in 2013. Prior to joining Neogen, Bauck spent nine years with Merial Inc., where he created and launched the Igenity livestock production business for the company. Bauck’s vision of worldwide livestock improvement through genomics was critical to Igenity’s success. Igenity was acquired by Neogen from Merial in May 2012 to complement Neogen’s 2010 acquisition of GeneSeek. Bauck’s experience also includes various responsibilities in technical services and management for Merck, and earlier in his career, he owned and operated his own private veterinary practice with a major emphasis on food-producing animals.
Bauck will continue to be headquartered at the company’s GeneSeek operations in Lincoln, Neb., where Neogen operates the largest animal genomic testing laboratory in the world. He will report directly to Neogen CEO James Herbert. Neogen’s agrigenomic business provides value-added services to leading global agricultural genetics providers, large cattle associations, companion animal breed registries, university researchers, and numerous commercial livestock producers.
Neogen Corporation (NEOG: NASDAQ) develops and markets products dedicated to food and animal safety. The company’s Food Safety Division markets dehydrated culture media, and diagnostic test kits to detect foodborne bacteria, natural toxins, food allergens, drug residues, plant diseases and sanitation concerns. Neogen’s Animal Safety Division is a leader in the development of animal genomics along with the manufacturing and distribution of a variety of animal healthcare products, including diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, veterinary instruments, wound care and disinfectants.
