About the Speaker
Dr. Martin Wiedmann, Gellert Family Professor in Food Safety, Cornell University
Dr. Martin Wiedmann is the Gellert Family Professor in Food Safety at Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. With training as both a veterinarian and food scientist, Dr. Wiedmann’s academic programs emphasize a comprehensive and interdisciplinary farm to- table approach to food safety. His research focuses on the transmission and systems biology of bacterial foodborne pathogens and spoilage organisms and involves the application of a variety of disciplines and collaboration across multiple institutions. Dr. Wiedmann received his veterinary degree and doctorate in veterinary medicine from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and his Ph.D. in food science from Cornell University.
