Enrichment Broth Required (Dependent on sample type)

  1. ANSR for Salmonella Enrichment Broth 1 (Neogen item 9811) - use with processed meats and other processed foods with a moderate to high microbial loads such as hot dogs, raw almonds, peanut butter, black pepper and cocoa powder.
  2. ANSR for Salmonella Enrichment Broth 2 (Neogen item 9812) - use with raw meat, poultry carcass rinses, raw frozen shrimp, raw leafy greens and flours including soy.
  3. ANSR for Salmonella Enrichment Broth 3 (Neogen item 9813) - use with environmental (except poultry house samples) and low microbial loads such as oat cereal and ice cream.
  4. ANSR for Salmonella Enrichment Broth 3B (Neogen item 9817) - use with dry pet food and pasteurized egg products.

Technology

  1. A special lysis reagent is added to the enrichment sample. Target pathogen DNA or RNA is released through the lysis step.
  2. The lysed sample is added to ANSR reagents. A special primer targets specific regions of the pathogen DNA and starts amplification of the DNA, creating millions of copies in minutes.
  3. The amplified segments of the pathogen DNA bind to special molecular beacons which then fluoresce and are detected by the ANSR reader.
  4. Results will be reported in 10 minutes and displayed as positive, negative or invalid.
