Technical Sales Representative, Germany - Ayr, Scotland

If so we would love to hear from you! We have an exciting opportunity for a German speaking Technical Sales Representative and/or Microbiology Sales and/or Business Development Specialist to join the German Food Safety department of our award-winning business at Auchincruive near Ayr.

Reporting to and liaising closely with the Sales Manager for Germany you will assume responsibility for management and business growth in the assigned territory for NEOGEN Food Safety products including microbiology products spanning Spoilage / Indicator Microorganisms and Pathogens across platforms including molecular, optical, Immuno based as well as DCM and RTU media. This position can either be based from Germany or our European Headquarters in Ayr.


The main features of the role are:

  • Develop and generate sales to meet or exceed budget sales revenues for products. Help devise and implement a business plan for this territory based upon business requirements for that territory.
  • Communicate with existing customers on a consistent basis to monitor customer satisfaction. Make prospecting calls and visits to inform potential customers of NEOGEN and the products and service it offers.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the products supplied and the national requirements (like German food law §64 etc). Ability to run and demonstrate all test kits in front of potential customers. Act as first point of contact in efforts to solve technical customer issues, liaising with divisional manager and technical support teams where appropriate.
  • Where required, assist in the development of marketing plans and strategies to penetrate new markets and increase growth and profitability in the designated territory.
  • Attend and analyse industry trade shows and meeting to promote products and services. Assist in completing and maintaining competitive analysis.
  • Assist in the development and translation of sales material where appropriate.
  • Provide a monthly written report on the situation and developments in that territory and other reportswhen required.
  • Prepare, develop and maintain a database of customers and potential clients.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven sales experience within technical sales environment
  • Willing to travel at least 40% of their time
  • Life science background
  • Microbiology background or sales experience preferred
  • Experiencesellingwithin food manufacture industrypreferred
  • Fluent German speaker, excellent communication (Verbal & Written) skills
  • Highly motivated, driven individual
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Ability to demonstrate technical knowledge.
