We are currently looking to recruit a R&D Technician to join our award-winning business at Heywood. Our team supports the European, Middle Eastern, African and Indian (EMEAI) territories for Neogen, a top performing NASDAQ listed business employing over 1,800 people worldwide.

Working in a team environment, the R&D technician conducts research through experiments for the development, improvement and Transfer lot manufacture of microbiological based products for food safety and animal safety applications. They also provide a support role for the laboratory ensuring consumable and stock reagents are maintained to ensure there are no delays in project timelines due to a shortage of core materials.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducts experimentation necessary to develop new products or improve or expand the claims of current Neogen products.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves experimentation problems as needed.
  • Interprets and records daily experimental results and provides a summary of results to senior team member for review.
  • Collaborates with team members to establish experimental design.
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing in the production of transfer lots of new products.
  • Prepares communal reagents necessary for experimentation.
  • Maintain stock levels and order any necessary materials to ensure critical consumables are available to enable progression of R&D projects.
  • Maintains laboratory in a clean, organized and safe condition.
  • Maintain temperature and other daily laboratory calibration records and ensure all R&D equipment calibration records are up to date
  • Records daily experimental results, analyzes data and provides a summary of results to the Head of R&D for review and planning of future experiments.
  • Make presentations of experimental results at regular R&D group meetings
  • Other duties which may also be assigned as per the agreed contract of employment.

  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skilfully; Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Works well in group problem solving situations.
  • Follows policies and procedures; Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently.
  • Ability to use and perform regular operator calibration checks on balances, pH meters, autoclaves spectrophotometric, and other instrumentation and equipment.
