Quality Officer - Rochdale, England

We are currently looking to recruit a Quality Officer to join the Animal Safety division of NEOGEN at our Rochdale site. Reporting to the Head of Quality & Compliance, the Quality Officer will be responsible for ensuring quality activities meet with organisational requirements for quality management, health & safety, legal stipulations and environmental policies. The successful candidate will monitor, measure and report on quality issues, opportunities and risks within agreed formats and timescales.

The main features of the role are:

  • Responsible for final product release including approval of certificates of analysis (COAs) for products analysed internally by Quality Control and approving product labelling prior to product filling / dispatch.
  • In process checks of critical control points within the manufacturing plant including equipment, line clearance and vessel checks.
  • Provide assistance in reviewing the process control of the facility as well as the monitoring of records; reporting of any noticeable deviations or potential hazards in standard operating procedures or process control to the Operations Manager.
  • Carrying out raw material inspections to ensure standards are maintained, and isolation of any substandard or non-conforming materials.
  • Issue, review and approval of QMS documentation, including protocols, specifications, workbooks, SOPs, validation protocols, and all other QMS documentation.
  • Manage document review ensuring biennial review of QMS documentation.
  • Perform core site activities of the QMS including CAPAs, Investigations, Complaints and Change controls.
  • Perform internal audit/inspections in adherence to audit schedule.
  • Completion of customer questionnaires.
  • Managing critical supplier approval.
  • Managing and controlling archiving of Quality & Technical records.
  • Control the preparation and facilitation of client/regulatory audits.
  • Perform Quality and QPulse inductions with new personnel.
  • Perform Quality refresher training

The ideal candidate will have:

  •  Previous experience within chemical industry desirable
  • Internal auditing experience desirable
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 standards
  • Use of QPulse - Quality Management System or equivalent electronic management system
  • Ability to work to deadlines while producing work of a high standard and accuracy
  • Ability to multi task
