Materials Planner

We are currently looking to recruit a Materials Planner to join our Materials team of our award winning business at Auchincruive near Ayr.

Our team supports the European, Middle Eastern, African & Indian (EMEAI) territories for NEOGEN, a top performing NASDAQ listed business employing around 1800 people worldwide. NEOGEN specialises in solutions for animal and food safety offering a diverse range of products and services for the agriculture, animal protein, food and beverage industries


The main features of the role are:

  • Assume responsibility for the planning of your designated materials for eithersales or internal departments within the Group.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders internal and external to ensure the supply of the above products, maintain and build good working relationships with these stakeholders.
  • Work extensively with Materials Co-Ordinator, Materials Admin and Group Buyer to ensure continued supply of designated materials.
  • Take Ownership of and maintain the key performance indicators (KPI’s) within your designated planning sheets working in conjugation with management to ensure that all KPI’s are relevant to where the business is at any given time.
  • Ensure planning sheet comments are updated on a daily basis, prepare internal and external supplier forecasts as required and liaise with either the accounts or logistics department in the event of an invoice or delivery query.
  • Assist with maintaining product information held in SAGE to keep the data relevant and up to date. Log observations and non-conformances in Q Pulse.
  • Provide cover for other positions within the department as required.
  • Any other relevant duties as required.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a materials planning position
  • Experience of multi-site planning within a high volume manufacturing environment
  • An understanding of the manufacturing process and supply chain management
  • Have exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge in MS Office
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • MRP/ERP experience preferred but not essential
